KEVIN MATHIS

2025 INDUCTEE

Mathis began coaching at Lake Central High School in 1989, where he led the team to an impressive 21 National Championships and 58 Varsity State Championships. Notable achievements include recent NDA titles in Pom and Hip Hop in 2024, Jazz in 2022, Pom in 2021 and 2020, as well as Hip Hop in 2020.

In 1994, he founded the Indiana High School Dance Team Association and served as its President for 31 years. In 2000, he established the Indiana Danzforce All-Stars, guiding them to more than 30 national titles with NDA and UDA.

He opened the M2 Dance Center in 2001, which has since trained thousands of students, many of whom have pursued professional, collegiate, or academic careers in dance.

From 2010 to 2019, Mathis coached Purdue University’s Dance Team, transforming them into a powerhouse in NDA Jazz. He has served on the Advisory Board for both NDA and Varsity, and he is a respected judge at the high school and collegiate levels. Since 2017, he has served as the Executive Board President of the National Dance Coach Association, and in 2022, he was honored with the National High School Coach of the Year Award.

Mathis is married to his wife, Dana, and they have two children, Jessica and Miles. He is also a proud grandfather to Sebastian and MacKenzie.
