Varsity Elite - This ELITE division is open to any Indiana high school team in good standings that desires to compete at the premier level of varsity competition in the IHSDTA. Dancers in this division should be accomplished in advanced skills with a varied range of expressive dynamics, involving space, time, weight and flow.
Varsity Advanced - This ADVANCED division is open to any Indiana high school team in good standings that desires to compete at the advance level of varsity competition in the IHSDTA. Dancers in this division should be accomplished in some advanced skills with developing exploration at becoming increasingly expressive in dynamics, involving space, time, weight, and flow. If more than 1/3 of the team simultaneously performs any elite skill, that team must compete in the elite division. State Championship teams of any Advanced category is required to compete in Division I for the subsequent year.
Varsity Intermediate - This INTERMEDIATE division is open to any Indiana high school team in good standings that desires to compete at the entry level of varsity competition in the IHSDTA. This division is designed to encourage and reward intermediate level dance skills. Examples of Intermediate skills are: battemat, chasse, chaine, double pirouette, jete, pas de bourre and, pas de chat, and switch leaps. Dancers in this division should not perform advanced or elite skills (ie: multiple turns, or switch leaps, jete in 2nd or axles). State Championship teams of any Intermediate category is required to compete in Advanced for the subsequent year.
Varsity Novice - This BEGINNING division is open to any Indiana high school team in good standings that desires to compete at the entry level of varsity competition in the IHSDTA. This division is designed to encourage and reward beginner level dance skills. Examples of novice skills are: battemat, chasse, chaine, single pirouette, jete, pas de bourre, pas de chat. State Championship teams of any Novice category is required to compete in Intermediatefor the subsequent year. Novice teams can not perform intermediate, advanced or elite skills (ie.: multiple turns or switch leaps, jete in 2nd, axle).
Penalties or disqualification from competition will apply to any team who does not adhere to IHSDTA divisional guidelines.
Junior Varsity - Junior Varsity Division-shall consist of any high school team designating itself as such. Teams with more than one (1) year IHSDTA competition experience within a two (2) year period must declare themselves as Varsity.
Junior High - This division is open to any Indiana junior high/middle school team in good standings with members in grades 6-8. Junior High teams may only compete in the dance and pom categories.
Junior Solo Division - This division is open to any student in grades 6-9 who is a member of an IHSDTA team in good standings.
Senior Solo Division - This division is open to any student in grades 10-12 who is a member of an IHSDTA team in good standings.
Senior Ensemble Division - This division is open to any students who are members of an IHSDTA team in good standings and are in grades 9-12
Junior Ensemble Division - This division is open to any students who are members of an IHSDTA team in good standings and are in grades 8th and below.
ALL TEAMS MUST DECLARE THEIR FINAL DIVISION DECLARATION BY THE MONDAY FOLLOWING THE 2ND WEEKEND IN JANUARY OF THE CURRENT SEASON. |
